Anti-Ragging Cell
As per the guidelines of UGC under the Act of 1956, which has been modified as UGC regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009.
Tamulpur College has an Anti-Ragging Cell to take actions on any report of incident of Ragging in the campus. Ragging constitutes one or more of any intentions-
• Any act of indiscipline, Teasing or Handling with rudeness whether by words spoken, or written or by an act
• Any activity which cause annoyance, hardship, psychological harms or create fear
• Any act of Financial extortion or forceful expenditure
• Any act of injury of students
• Any act that prevents, disrupts the regular academic activity
RULES AGAINST RAGGING:
Any act that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of a student is considered as ragging. Tamulpur College strictly abides by the rules and regulations directed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide its Order dated 16-5-2007 and also UGC regulations for curbing the menaces of ragging in Higher education Institutions. The college has a functioning Anti Ragging Cell in order to keep the college students in purview of the peace and harmonious atmosphere and to induce smooth academic progress. The Cell is committeed to implement measures for Preventing and prohibiting the Ragging. Some of the acts which are considered as Ragging are as follows.
1. Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a junior student by senior students.
2. Any act of physical abuse including all variants such as sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestured, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person is ragging.
3. Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, snail-mails, blogs, public insults is considered psychological aspects of ragging.
4. Exploiting the services of a junior student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of seniors is also ragging.
