Tamulpur College is one of the pioneer higher education institutions of newly declared Tamulpur District of Assam. It was established on 4th of August, 1984 and has now become one of the most prestigious full-fledged and high standard degree colleges of the Tamulpur, having 11 departments as of 2024 (Assamese, Bodo, Economics, Education, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit, Nepali and BCA). The college has received permission to start classes in 9 subjects way back in the year of 1993 without permission to hold exam in its own campus. As a result till 2014, the students had to appear degree examination in different degree colleges such as Rangia College (1984-2010), Barama College (2010-2011), Dhamdhama Anchalik College (2011-2014). The moment of joy showered on Tamulpur College fraternity when the college received permission for holding examination at college campus under Gauhati University in the year 2015.
However, the permission to opt as honours in 8 subjects came quite lately. From the Academic year 2024-2025 the college authority decided to provide hostel facility for both boys (28 seats) and girls (44 seats). Moreover, New RCC administrative block, new College Canteen, a separate Library hall for greater interest of its students and college faculties are also under construction. The college has already received permanent affiliation from Bodoland University in 2022. From the establishment year 1984 till Dec 27, 2023 the college was running with venture status with lots of hurdle. Finally, on Dec 28, 2023 as per BTR accord 2020 on need basis, the college has been provincialised with the grace of BTR Govt. and Assam Govt. So, we the Tamulpur College family timnk the BTR govt. and Assam Govt. for their appreciable initiative. The authority of the college is trying its level best to build up the college as a centre of excellence of international standard. The motto of the college is to build up such a generation of young men and women who will be physically fit, intellectually alert, mentally strong, spiritually inspired and socially committed. Such a generation will be the real assets of the society and the nation. May god help us all.
